WebHere in Bar Harbor not all the burned cottages were wooden. The fire burned very hot and even stone mansions burned to the ground. Some of the ruins can still be seen. Nor were all the houses that burned the mansions of the summer people. We live in a house that was built in 1949 using the same cellar hole of a burned home.
