WebAug 14, 2016 · I dug down through the forums and found the answer; you have to bring up the album art of the piece that's currently playing, then tap the screen, then the icons that control playlist order appear. If an icon is blue the function is on, if white it's off. Now that's not at all like the usual intuitive interface that the iPod is famous for. WebFeb 23, 2007 · It will also turn off immediately if you press and hold the play/pause button for 3 or 4 seconds (at least on a 5G it does). In my case the problem was that even if you left the ipod paused it would not turn off - the only way it would sort of 'shut down' was when the battery finally died a couple of hours later.
