WebThe Shoreline Project is an effort to provide flood protection, restore 2,900 acres of former salt evaporation ponds, and improve public access in the Alviso area of South San Francisco Bay. It will address the need for tidal wetland restoration, flood protection, and improved recreation connections in the South Bay. WebSouth Bay is encircled by the Lower Rio Grande Valley Wildlife Refuge, which is known to support a population of rare Texas ocelots. Coyotes, bobcats, armadillos, raccoons and other small mammals are common on the shores of the bay. The launch site for this trail is at the South Bay Kayak Launch.
